Gathering & dissemination of information on gangs, modes of operation, vehicles, descriptions of members. Rumor control.  Clarification of graffiti & graffiti removal. Case management & outreach to gang members under 21 years old.

Residential Security Prog., Coordinate Block Home Program, School Safety & DARE Program, Neighborhood Watch Program, Personal Safety/Rape Awareness. Free. Hours:8–5, Mon – Fri.

Multnomah County Victim Assistance Program                                     988–3222

Assists victims of crimes with short term crisis intervention, agency referral, property return & status of investigation. Accompany victim to court. Seek restitution for victims on pending criminal cases. Victim advocates for victims of sexual assault, gang violence, hate crimes &n domestic violence.          

Neighborhood Mediation Center, 4815 NE 7th                                          823–3152

Mediation is available to city of Portland residents with a neighborhood or landlord/tenant dispute wishing mediation services rather than criminal justice intervention. Also mediate business/consumer disputes. Services are free. Information & referral provided. No intra–family disputes.

Neighborhood Nuisance Division                                                               823–7306

Call to report accumulations of trash or debris; street or sidewalk obstructions; open & vacant structures; tall grass and weeds or traffic visibility obstructions at intersections caused by vegetation or abandoned vehicles on private property. Also call to report necessary repairs to be done by landlord.

Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods, 4815 NE 7th                             823–4575

Coordinates the following programs & services: Neighborhood Watch, Citizen Foot Patrol, Drug House elimination, Youth Gangs Program, Child Safety, Block Home Network, Graffiti Project, Elder Safety and Public Safety Action Committee. Call to get involved and support the safety of our Northeast Neighborhoods.

B.    DOMESTIC & SEXUAL VIOLENCE

Asian Family Center                                                                                                235–9396

Provides case management services for domestic violence victims. Culturally specific to South East Asian Families.

Parent–Child Development Services                                                           262–8244

Funded by Multnomah County. Culturally specific to South East Asian Families with children 0 – 6 years old and living in Multnomah County. There are no income guidelines. Other services include youth and family intervention, gang outreach and housing assistance.

 

They also house the Success by Six Program which serves the South East Asian Community in Multnomah County and the Russian and Bosnian Communities in Washington County.

Bradley Angle House                                                                                               281–2442

Emergency shelter and services for victims of domestic & sexual violence or with drug & alcohol issues & their children.  Support groups for women abuse victims age 13+ years. Specialized groups include Spanish speaking, African–American, battered lesbians & young women 14 – 22 years. Some transitional housing & case management available.  No male children older than 12.  No drugs/alcohol or violent/abusive behavior while in the program. Above crisis line is available 24 hours.

African American Providers Network                                                     493–8623

Provide support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence or with drug and alcohol issues. Culturally specific to African, African American and Caribbean families.

Vancouver Safe choice                                                                                (360) 695–0501

Though located in Vancouver, WA they serve clients form surrounding communities including Portland Metro Area. They provide sheter for victims of domestic violence and take in boys up to 17 years old.

Clackamas Women's Services                                                                                654–2288

Shelter, women's support group for victims of domestic violence.  First come first served basis. Starting October, 2001, they will lprovide community support group for school age children.

Community Advocates for Safety & Self Reliance                                             823–0296

Provides prevention education programs to prevent violence against women & children.  Self–defense workshops for women, teen girls & children. Kids Can Project.  Fighting Chance Project. Domestic Violence Prevention Program. Hours 9am–5pm, Mon – Fri. Fees vary.

LOTUS, 1811 NE 39th St.                                                                                 282–1082

Provides services to women who wish to or are in the process of leaving prostitution. Services include support & education groups, clothing assistance, case management, advocacy.

Domestic Violence Unit, District Attorney                                248–3873

Call this number if you wish to prosecute an incident of domestic violence. This office does not take police reports of incidents of domestic violence. Call the police at 820–3000 to report non–emergencies or 911 for emergencies.

Domestic Violence Reduction Unit, Portland Police           823–0961

Call this number for investigative follow–up of existing cases only. For new cases, call the police non–emergency number at 283–3000 or call 911 in an emergency.

Domestic Violence Resource Center/Shelter                            469–8620

Emergency shelter (4 weeks) for women and their children. One on one counseling & support groups for women experiencing relationship violence. 24–Hr.Crisis–line. General outreach & Hispanic services.

Provide emergency shelter, food, clothing, & transport; info. & referral, advocacy,  child care while mother seeks work, indiv. & family counseling for perpetrators & victims of violence, children's program, support groups open to non–residents., individual  men's anger control therapy, low–cost transit & permanent housing, alcohol/drug assess. Hours 8:30am–5pm daily. 24–hour crisis–line. Shelter is $15/night per person.

Restraining Orders, 1021 SW Fourth Ave, Room  211                248–3943

Multnomah County Courthouse –Go to above address in person, to file for Restraining Orders.  Hours are between 8–5, Mon – Fri.  Judge will only review once/day after all paper complete.

Steps to Success –North, 5600 NE 42nd Ave.                                 943–2000

If you are a Steps to Success – North JOBS client & have a current restraining order on file with the court, it is a good idea to add the Steps location as an additional protected location. A copy  of your restraining order should be kept  on file, so police or campus security may be called if the restrained person comes on site.  A recent picture of the restrained person, attached to the order, would also help to more easily identify the person. The goal is to create a safe environment for you & your fellow participants.

Volunteers of America                                                                             232–6562

Provide emergency shelter, residential housing service, case management, advocacy, assessment of needs, life skills training, children’s program, peer support group, domestic violence education. Women with children only, no males over 12. No Fee. 24–hour service.

West Women's & Children's Shelter                                                224–7718

Temporary shelter for homeless women & children./ dorm situation for single women. No male child over 12. All  referrals before 3pm. Intake after 3pm.  Must be drug & alcohol free for 30 days prior to service. Intensive case mgmt., domestic violence ed., group work, transitional housing. Sliding scale.

YWCA (Downtown)                                                                                       977–7930

Shelter for homeless families. 24 hour intake.  No boys over the age of 8 years.  Wheelchair accessible.
