Worksite Training/Internship (WE)
 
  Component Description:
 
  Work Experience is an opportunity for clients to further enhance their job skills by participating in an internship with local employers. Clients receive feedback and instruction on what it takes to be successful in a professional environment in exchange for their commitment to the internship site.
 
  • Timeframe: Usually three to six months.
  • Number of hours per week: Usually 20 to 40 hours.
  • Outcome: Enhanced understanding of worksite expectations in general. Specific knowledge of the industry they intern in, including workplace routines, attire, promotional opportunities, and employment outlook. May lead to JOBS Plus or unsubsidized employment. Upon successful completion, a reference from the employer.

      Who to refer:
     
      The ideal client would be new to the workforce with little or no employment history, a client who has been out of the workforce for a period of time, a client attempting to gain usable experience or knowledge in a field they have little or no previous experience in or a client unfamiliar with an employer expectations of what it takes to be successful at work.
